2014 Artists and Musicians

Hunting Bears Bears-1bare a Leeds-based orchestral folk sextet with a penchant for full-band vocal harmonies. Celtic harp, violin and bowed double bass are nestled amongst electric guitar, keyboards and heavy-hitting drums. Influenced by the cross-rhythmic maximalist textures of Bon Iver; the intricate vocal harmonies of The Staves; and the songwriting craft of Ron Sexsmith and Loudon Wainwright III, the Bears love to make music together, and perform to those kind enough to listen. In the past two years Hunting Bears have played at Greenman Festival; Beatherder Festival; opened The Brudenell Social Club stage at Live at Leeds; and billed alongside The Head and the Heart, Paul Thomas Saunders and Lanterns on the Lake.

Fiddlefit barn-dance-1bare a duo comprising Judith on fiddle and Bill on guitar, using vocals and melody to conjure up a range of folk-based music, ranging from tradional English to Cajun and Celtic via the Steppes of Russia. Judith’s musical journey started, like most fiddle players, with a classical training before settling into a long spell on the barn dance circuit finally teaming up with Bill to express her effervescent personality on the lead instrument. Bill, on the other hand, started out as a drummer with various pop outfits before discovering a passion for folk/rock and switching to guitar to provide the engine room backing for Judith’s soaring fiddle. Lively and entertaining, they are sure to get your feet stomping and your hands clapping and really get you in the party mood.
