The Quadrangle

The Quadrangle is a beautiful location with a huge Victorian barn, a barn garden and a permaculture meadow adjacent to the River Darent.  We ask all members of the public to take care of the meadow and enjoy the mown circles, but please take care not to crush or run into the longer grass.  These are carefully prepared micro-habitats and we would appreciate it enormously if the species within them could stay undisturbed!

Families

Parents and carers are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of their children at all times.

We aim to be a family-friendly event. We are all volunteers, so we need your consideration and collaboration to make it a safe and fun day out. Please hold hands with children during the procession, and please keep them near you at the Quadrangle –  the River Darent is at the bottom of the field. And please stay with your children during the workshops and activities.

Public Transport

By train: come to Shoreham station in Kent (not Sussex!) The line runs to Sevenoaks/Otford in one direction, with fast connections to Charing Cross and Victoria respectively, and to Swanley/Bromley South/ Blackfriars in the other.

The best trains from Shoreham station to London Blackfriars via Swanley, Bromley etc on Sunday night are at 21.08 or 21.38, arriving in Blackfriars 56 minutes later.  Or take the down train to Sevenoaks at 20.39 (or 21.39), change at Otford and go up to London Charing Cross arriving at 21.25 (or 22.25).  Very fast!  But always check train timetables for any updates or alterations.

Parking

Please use Public Transport if you can, the venue is only a ten to fifteen minute walk from the station, and the same from Shoreham Village. There will be limited parking at the venue and some in a field nearby (a five minute walk away) or in the village itself.  Follow signs and volunteers will guide you to the best spot. Please park carefully and at your own risk. There is also a free car park on Filston Lane and street parking near Shoreham station.

There is some parking in a field at the Quadrangle – which itself is on a private road off the A225, opposite the junction with Fackenden Lane. It will be signposted, but it’s fairly narrow and bumpy!

Remember to bring a torch if you think you might need to walk in the dark.

Toilet Facilities

There are several toilets at the Quadrangle (wheelchair accessible) and a compost toilet in the meadow.

Equal access facilities at venues

At the Quadrangle, most areas can be accessed from ground level, but some have one or two steps to access.  Some activities and workshops take place in the field, so the quality of the surface will rather depend on weather conditions.

Dogs

Very well-behaved dogs on leads may come, but please take great care in the Meadow that they don’t run into the long grass – these are precious habitats so we would really appreciate understanding about this (the same goes for wild children!!).  No dogs allowed in gazebos, the yurt or the barn please.  And of course clean up after them.  Many thanks.
